David Jonathan “J. D.” Drew is a former American Major League Baseball right fielder. He is a left-handed hitter, and began his major league career in 1998 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He also played for the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Boston Red Sox where he won a World Series in 2007 and was an All-Star in 2008. He has two brothers, Stephen and Tim, who have also been major league players. Before playing professionally, J.D. was the winner of the 1997 Dick Howser Trophy and the 1997 Golden Spikes Award, being named the 1997 Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year while playing at Florida State University. Currently, J.D. lives in Hahira, GA with his wife Sheigh, and their five children.

During this interview, J.D. shares the story of his journey to playing at the highest stage. Along with baseball, he discusses his faith, how he held firm to his convictions, handling the media and false stories, what life after baseball looks like, the problems faced from social media, how he approaches being a father, and much more.

This is a captivating, encouraging, and thought-provoking conversation you don’t want to miss.

“You don’t have to have a huge platform to make a huge impact.”  – J.D. Drew

“That’s one of the reasons we started this show – so that we can have conversations that are easy to listen to but that are difficult to think about, and are things that make you think.”  – Adam Setser

“As my life continues to grow, raising kids and doing all this stuff, I realize – I don’t know a lot. It’s just baby steps each day, trying to plug in and be committed.”  – J.D. Drew

“The problem is, the younger you let [social media] start, the more it becomes the god of the kid’s life. And they realize that if I can manufacture and do this on social media, then everything I need in the world is golden.”  – J.D. Drew

“Is the success that you define, does it last for this lifetime or does it last for eternity?”  – Thane Ringler

“Everything in the world is going to revolve around a certain thing. We [my family] are going to revolve around what God calls us to do in the Bible.”  – J.D. Drew
